Supported iOS Languages

Since iOS 8, Apple has opened native support for nearly all languages – including Klingon!

While Apple only provides localized versions of the major iOS apps and system in a limited set of languages, allowing third party apps to natively support any language they choose is a major step forward.

In order to see the list of languages on your device:

  • Open the Settings app
  • Tap General > Language & Region
  • Tap Add Language…

This list is also searchable!

On my iPad I’ve two slight variations showing up where you label it as traditional Chinese. Why do I see two variations when your screenshot shows just one?

If you look at the top of the screenshot you will see S. Chinese. iOS orders this list by last used, hence why my languages may be in a different position than yours.

In addition to simplified Chinese at the top, there are two slight variations of Traditional Chinese showing in the list.
